Saturday Nature Adventure

After 26 years of success in our homeschool program, we are excited to offer Saturday Nature Adventures to a wider audience! This program focuses on guiding students through more challenging outdoor adventures and the acquisition of difficult, hands-on skills.

Key Program Components

1. Advanced Hands-On Skills

Students will get hands-on experience and begin to master these essential skills:

  • Fire & Tools: Fire-by-friction, flint and steel, and whittling.
  • Crafting: Basketry and fiber arts.
  • Shelter & Survival: Essential shelter-building and survival techniques.
  • Navigation: Practical orienteering skills.

2. The Young Naturalist's Journey

This is the start of a multi-year commitment to becoming a true "knowledge of place" expert. Students will begin to layer in:

  • Natural history and understanding outdoor hazards.
  • Wildlife tracking and observation.
  • Identification of edible and medicinal plants.
  • Bird language recognition.
