Film Instructor

Jocelyn Largent was born in October of 1988, in Redwood City. She graduated in 2006 after being home schooled since the 5th grade. Jocelyn has been involved with the Riekes Center since 2005 and has been through programs in both Athletic Fitness and Creative Arts.

As a kid Jocelyn has always been involved in sports such as soccer and skateboarding, and the arts. Jocelyn came to the Riekes Center looking to improve her running form for soccer. Soon after meeting with the staff she began to take classes in Athletics and also took a summer film camp where she developed a new found passion for film making.

Throughout her younger years Jocelyn had experimented with film making and editing in iMovie. After taking a film class her interest was sparked and she became an intern in the film department. Shortly after Jocelyn became a staff member in the Creative Arts Department and began to work more closely with her mentor Lex Sloan. After working on several professional projects and in classes Jocelyn began to teach students on her own.

Her first students were from SPARK, which was an after school program that lasted for two months. Once the program ended the all teachers were given a certificate of Congressional Recognition for Teaching Excellence.

In spring 2008, Jocelyn along with nearly 100 others entered the Palo Alto Greenlight Film Festival. Out of all the entries only 9 films were selected, 3 per category. Jocelyn took first place in the open category and 3 of her students took first place in the other two categories along with one 3rd place winner.

Jocelyn is currently working on several different professional sets and is attending school at Canada College. She is transferring to San Jose State University in fall of 2009 to pursue her passion for film as a Broadcasting Film Journalist. She loves to sing, play soccer with her colleges' team, and will always go the extra mile for students to accomplish their goals, no matter what they are.
